Talaash Second Day Business
Talaash Second Day
Business
Talaash had growth on day two as it collected around 14.50 crore nett
adding to the 12.50 crore nett it collected on day one. The two day total is
around 27 crore nett.
The film showed huge growth in the
North as day one was not too strong. Both Delhi/UP and East Punjab showed 25%
growth. Mysore was also fantastic.
The mass market held collections
similar to the day before. If Sunday shows the same growth again the film will
come out with a very good weekend.

Talaash First Day Business
Talaash First Day
Business
Talaash grossed a good 12.25-12.50 crore nett approx on day one due to
strong business at multiplexes. Basically most circuits had strong areas and
weak areas be it big circuits or smaller circuits.
A Rajasthan was good in Jaipur and
Kota but rest were average, Delhi/UP was strong in Delhi city, Noida and
Lucknow but other cities were not as good. Similarly in Mumbai circuit, Mumbai
city recorded good collections but in Gujarat only a few cities contributed
well. The South Indian circuits of Mysore, Nizam and Tamil Nadu were all strong
comparatively.
It's a good start for the film and
now the key will be what sort of improvement can come on Saturday as a 12 crore
first day on this release leaves room for plenty of growth on Saturday if the
audience takes to the film.

Aamir Khan to direct children’s film again
Aamir Khan to direct children’s film
again
After Taare
Zameen Par, the perfectionist actor has found a suitable story for
his next directorial venture
Little did Aamir Khan know that he would actually have to wait for five long years to direct his
next afterTaare Zameen Par. The Talaash actor has always
expressed his wish to direct a film after receiving an over-whelming response for TZP, but just that he wasn’t getting the right script to direct.
In one of his recent interviews, the box office king revealed that he’s
keen to direct a film for kids again. Reportedly, his next directorial venture
is about the relationship between a 14-year-old boy and his seven-year-old
sister. “I’ve liked the subject a lot and hence decided to make a film on it.
I’ve also bought the rights, but I’m not sure when will I start working on it
considering I have Peekay, Dhoom:3 and Satyamev Jayate
2,” Aamir said.
We guess Aamir who became a proud father to Azad Rao Khan last year, has drawn some inspiration from real life to make a film for
kids again.

Single Screens And Mass Belts Low For Talaash
Single Screens And
Mass Belts Low For Talaash
Talaash could not open well at single screens and multiplexes in mass
dominated circuits and there was not much improvement in the shows after. The
multiplexes are in urban cities are good but eventually there is a limit to how
far these cinema's can take a film. The single screen opening is around 40%.
The first day will come out with a
decent total but not the sort of number expected from a wide release Aamir Khan
film after three years. The average business in many circuits will tell on the
first day business despite big contribution's by metro multiplexes.
The business in the
big circuits (Mumbai and Delhi/UP) is not optimum as if Mumbai city has good
numbers, Gujarat has low figures. If Delhi city is good, UP is recording low
numbers.

the special do
Aamir Khan is a
crowd puller. Such is the reputation of his hatke films that even B-town folks are huge
fans of Mr Perfectionist. So when Aamir and director Reema Kagti hosted the
premiere of their filmTalaash last night,
the exclusive do was graced by many heavyweights of the glamour industry.
The superstar Khan was in his element, and we spotted him in a trendy
sweater. Even Rani Mukerji was seen waving to the crowd before she posed for
the cameras. Anil Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Ranveer Singh, Kangna Ranaut,Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar, Javed Akhtar and
Shabana Azmi, Kabir Khan and Mini Mathur, Ashutosh Gowariker and Sunita
Gowariker, Minissha Lamba, Rajkumar Hirani, Randhir Kapoor,
Sharman Joshi and many other glitterati dazzled the red carpet with their
unique style statements. We were glad to see veteran actor Dilip Kumar attend
the special screening with wife Saira Banu.

Aamir Khan: Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor are very pretty!
Aamir Khan: Rani Mukerji and Kareena
Kapoor are very pretty!
So he had to work hard not to be distracted by his
co-stars, he says. Aamir Khan speaks about his latest film, Talaash and what makes him do what he does
so well
How did the idea of Talaash come
up? What made you accept the role?
Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti came
to narrate the script to me, and I just loved it. After a long time in Hindi
cinema, we will see a suspense drama – and such a riveting one, with a
deep emotional core. I like that it is an unusual and also intriguing combo.
On working with director Reema Kagti…
Reema is a director who is very au
fait with her subject. We hadn’t interacted a lot during Lagaan,
but were totally immersed with Talaash. Her confidence in what she
requires, her in depth preparation of material and how to imbue it with the
actor is wonderful. No compromises were made and I was very comfortable working
with her. She knew deep layers of my character, which was quite amazing.
This is the third time you’ve worked with a
female director (not to mention producing female directors like Anusha Rizvi) –
is there a difference in approach, perhaps, from working with men in the
industry?
Yes,
as a, actor I have worked with Deepa (Mehta), Kiran (Rao) and now Reema. All
are extremely wonderful and capable directors. They know exactly what they are
looking for in a shot. I would say that actually their approach is a purely
individualistic trait and nothing to do with gender. The process of cinema and
storytelling – for too long it’s been the male perspective on life and relationships.
I’m happy to support women directors, with their fresh mindsets in the world of
cinema. Also, there is more opportunity now for new-age filmmakers and writers,
which is not dependent on country, region or gender.
Your role in Talaash…
I
play Inspector Shekhawat, who is investigating a case. At the core of my
character there is loss and coping with loss. It’s an emotional story. I like
to create the characters I play in behaviour – each day I have to believe what
is happening to the character is happening to me. You have to watch it to glean
the rest.
You have two talented leading ladies in Talaash, Rani
Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor…
It’s been a while since Ghulam and Mangal
Pandey: The Rising, so it was nice to reunite with Rani on screen. And 3
Idiots also seems a long time ago – that was working with Kareena.
Both are very pretty, so I had to work at concentrating on the job, without
getting distracted (laughs). I like the energy they bring and how they worked
with me as part of the larger team. They are both very nice human beings.
Ram Sampath has delivered again for you,
creating evocative music, like in Delhi Belly….
The
music of Talaash, is Ram and Reema’s creation. I am in love with the film’s
songs. They just grow on you. Ram and I have worked on Delhi Belly and Satyamev
Jayate. In Ram we see a star who is born, who creates absolutely outstanding
music. Ram is a person who has been around a long time, and worked on tons of
commercials, and has experience as a composer. His time had come, to make a big
mark in Hindi films and cinema and he has matured as a composer. He also loves
to experiment. I really feel that his contribution is immense.
How did you prepare for your role as a cop
and keep the ‘look’ for so long?
Reema
had done extensive research for the role. I did go to Khar police station in
Mumbai a couple of times in the night to see the night vigilance team at work.
As I work on one film at a time, keeping the look is never an issue.
Being part producer, also lead actor – was
this easy to juggle?
In
this case, Farhan (Akhtar) and Ritesh (Sidhwani) were more hands-on as
producers, so it was easy for me. I didn’t want to produce ever in my life, as
I’ve seen what my father went through. I was happy to act – production was the
last thing on my mind – but when you want to make God laugh, tell him your
plans. I ironically ended up producing films that no one else would touch.
They’ve been successful, but I don’t know why. I do give all the work I choose
to do, my all.
Coming together with Excel after the iconic Dil
Chahta Hai…
Yes,
it’s been almost a decade since we worked together. It’s a wonderful team to
work with and they are extremely creative. They work in a collaborative style,
so they listen to each other’s opinions and decide what needs to be done.
Like Dhobi Ghat, you chose to
work in real locations – what were the challenges, with your super-stardom?
Reema
was very clear from beginning that she would shoot at real locations. She
wanted to capture Mumbai in its real form. It has been difficult for the entire
team, however – the light, the ambience and locations can never be replaced by
shooting in an indoor studio. It is totally worth the effort.
The climax was shot at Pinewood Studios in
London, underwater…
We
earlier thought of shooting this in India. It was extremely smooth shooting
there and a nice experience, but also a tad petrifying when swimming
underwater. The UK is always enjoyable.
You embraced your spiritual side by taking
your Mother to Mecca…
I
promised my mother that I would take her to Hajj; it was a promise made almost
a year ago. It’s been an extremely special experience and an unforgettable one.
I have really cherished spending time with my mum.
Satyamev Jayate,
like your film Taare Zameen Par, has helped change policy within
the government and has changed so many lives – what compelled you to be the
social activist?
Uday Shankar of Star TV had approached me for
a game show and that’s when I told him of this idea, saying that if I were to
come on TV, then it would be in something like this and asked if it would
interest him. He just loved the idea. It was an overwhelming response that we
got from the people. It’s about raising awareness. Season 2 is on the way and
we are working on it, on the research side. OnceDhoom:3 and
Rajkumar Hirani’s Peekay are done, we will begin shooting.
Dhoom:3 brings
you back to Yash Raj Films after a long hiatus, and you have always played a
very good villain…
I will say that it is a pleasure for me to
work with Yash Raj Films once again. The Dhoom theme tune
gives a swing to my step and the script, by Victor (Vijay Krishna Acharya)
really won me over.
Your ‘brand’ of cinema has changed a lot over
the years and you are bringing ‘unusual’ indie films, like Peepli:Live, Dhobi
Ghat and Delhi Belly to Indian cinema – how important
do you see this being for the perception of Indian films by the world and even
within India?
As an actor, I have always enjoyed working on
films that push the envelope on the commercial format. Whether it’s Lagaan, Dil
Chahta Hai or Taare Zameen Par, that is how I choose my
films. Peepli:Live,Dhobi Ghat and Delhi Belly are
films I have loved, and hence produced. Ultimately, for me, the script should
excite me, whether as an actor or producer. I have also shown that art-house
movies, which would collect so little in the past, are now able to make some
serious money.
What’s next, for Aamir Khan?
I start work on Raj Kumar Hirani’s Peekay and
there is SMJ season 2. And the rest is on the horizon and
we’ll talk about it later.
A message for the fans?
Do
communicate with me via my social media pages and let me know how you feel
about my work.

Talaash Has Good Opening At Multiplexes
Talaash Has Good Opening At
Multiplexes
Talaash opened well at multiplexes in its first shows in this morning. The
opening ranged from excellent to decent depending on city and location. There
were multiplexes that opened at 90% while others were at 50%.
On average it is a 70% opening at
multiplexes. The film has a very heavy release at multiplexes with a huge
number of shows at most properties across the country. The single screen
release is more muted as the distributors did not give the film to single
screen exhibitors unless they committed to a two week run.
The single screen opening will be
lower as multiplexes in tier two cities have opened lower. The evenings at
metro multiplexes tend to be strong for this type of a film so day one should
could come out with a good total on the strength of multiplex business.

Talaash box office prediction: Aamir Khan starrer expected to earn Rs 40 crore over the weekend
Talaash box office prediction: Aamir Khan starrer
expected to earn Rs 40 crore over the weekend
Mr Perfectionist returns to the big screen in the lead
role after three long years. Will this comeback be made special by housefull
boards across the country? Here’s what the trade buzz says…
If our feathered friends and Talaash-loyalists
are to be believed, the movie is gearing up for a bumper opening at the box
office with “people thronging to the multiplexes to book the tickets in
advance”. And
why not! After all Aamir Khan did pull out all stops as far as
marketing of Talaash is concerned. Remember the tie-up with
Windows 8, those promotional episodes on C.I.D. and the buzz about Khan being
interrogated by the cast of Star Plus’ Diya Aur Baati
Hum?
But has it generated the desired buzz? “Talaash may not have generated extraordinary
heat. But that may work in the favour of the film as it is a suspense drama.
The intrigue value of the film has grown over the days because of the not-in-your-face
promotional strategies which would do the suspense film good,” trade analyst
Komal Nahta says. A peek into the booking window revealed that the tickets for
the evening shows of certain multiplexes in Navi Mumbai are indeed sold out.
But what kind of buzz is the Aamir Khan-Rani Mukerji-Kareena Kapoor starrer
creating in the trade arena? “The buzz is good and the weekend should earn
approximately Rs 40 crores,” says trade analyst Amod Mehra.
And maybe that’s the reason why birdies chirp that the makers of Talaash were under tremendous pressure to open
the ticket windows for the advance bookings on Sunday. And while bookings
usually open on Monday for single screens and on Wednesday for multiplexes,
advance bookings Talaashopened
in all theatres (except the ones in Chennai) on Monday, four days prior to the
movie’s release.
So has opening the advance booking
sooner resulted in an increase in sale of tickets? Not really. The morning and
afternoon shows show only 30-40 ‘booked’ seats in almost all theatres across
Mumbai till now. And hardly any theatres are housefull. “Normally bookings open
on Wednesday. And nowadays there are so many shows that to register a housefull
in advance is a rarity,” Mehra said while explaining the reason behind those
empty seats.
So looks like we’ll have to wait and watch if the promotional strategies
employed for Talaash have indeed benefited the movie or
not, right? Till then, you tell us readers: Do you think Talaash will cross the Rs 100 crore mark at
the box office?
Talaash Has Solid Advance At Multiplexes
Talaash Has Solid Advance At Multiplexes
Talaash had a solid advance at multiplexes which opened advance sales over
the weekend especially for a film which has has not had huge hype and heavy
promotion. The advance was similar or better than some heavily promoted big
films. The brisk pace of advance ticket sales at multiplexes like E Square UR,
Pune and Cinemax Central, Bangalore actually beats all 2012 releases apart from
Ek Tha Tiger.
Obviously the power and goodwill of
brand Aamir Khan amongst the multiplex audience is the reason as this audience
awaits his film like no one else's promotion or no promotion.
The first day collections at multiplexes of Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and
Bangalore are set to be huge going by early advance indications. The advance at
the big single screens of Delhi is more muted which suggests opening outside
metros will be lower.
The metro multiplex business will
ensure a big first day and how big it becomes will depend on how business
outside the metros goes through the day. Aamir Khan's last big release Three
Idiots released three years ago netted close to 13 crore and was released on a
national holiday.

Is Aamir Khan impressed with Priyanka Chopra?
Is Aamir Khan impressed with Priyanka Chopra?
After Salman Khan and
Shahrukh Khan, the Doom 3 actor too seems to have loved PeeCee’s
first single, In my city
Salman Khan tweeted some time ago saying that Priyanka Chopra‘s first single In My City was
fabulous. “Omg! Jst heard priyanka chopra’s english track 3 times bak to bak,
called in my city. Its fab, outstanding! SALAAM miss chopra.”
Shahrukh Khan too
made a statement that he thought PeeCee had the potential to become the first
crossover star from India. “Priyanka has the capacity and talent to become the
first crossover star from India, our first creative export. She has a super
team backing her and she is truly an international brand and will make India
very proud,” he said.
Now it seems that B-town’s third Khan, Aamir – who is
shooting in Chicago for Dhoom 3 currently
– is also mighty impressed with Priyanka. A source from the sets of Dhoom 3 said, “Aamir Khan saw the
song playing regularly during the National Football League playoffs. He was
surprised at the magnitude of the launch.
He called the song ‘awesome’.” Aamir was also
overheard telling those present on the sets that the song sounded
international.Looks like Priyanka has floored the three Khans with her song and
we are sure she is quite flattered with all the praise. None of the heroines
have been vocal about PeeCee’s achievement though…we wonder why?
