Table No.21 Has Steady Monday

Table No.21 had a steady Monday collecting around 1 crore nett adding to the 5.75 crore nett it collected over the weekend. The collections after four days are 6.75 crore nett approx.

The Monday collections give the film a chance to hang around at the box office for a few weeks. The key for these type of film's is the next seven days after the weekend as the opening three days are rarely strong due to lack of face value.

The weekdays and second weekend will determine where the film is going but the Monday figures give the film a chance to put up a respectable total.

Dabangg 2 Second Day Business

Dabangg 2 Second Day Business
Dabangg 2 dropped on Saturday as it collected in the 16 crore nett range as per early estimates. The single screen drop was expected as collections were extremely strong on day one but surprisingly multiplexes failed to show growth on Saturday. Some multiplexes showed similar business to Friday while some very down slightly but very few were up.

The two day business of the film is around 35 crore nett which is huge as it is has done it without holidays but the next few days will tell that the drop that come on Friday was due to excessive screenings and cold weather or therew as more to it. The North was hit again in the evening by cold weather on Saturday.

7. Tees Maar Khan – 1.20 crore
8. Yamla Pagla Deewana – 1.18 crore
9. Ready – 1.14 crore
10. Cocktail - 1.12 crore

Dabangg 2 First Day Business

Dabangg 2 First Day Business
Dabangg 2 has collected 19.50 crore nett approx on day one as per early estimates. It is the highest non holiday opening day beating the 14.75 crore nett of Don 2 released in the same period last year but it has also released on 600-700 more screens than that film.

As has been seen in the last two years it is really tough to collect really big at multiplexes without a national holiday and the trend continued with Dabangg 2. There is just not enough of a multiplex audience on a working day to pack out 25 or 30 shows daily at a multiplex. Some shows go house full but odd timing shows have very low occupancies.

The first day is still fantastic and there should be growth on Saturday and Sunday as huge number of shows multiplexes give the film potential to get much higher collections as long as the public takes to it.

Talaash box office prediction: Aamir Khan starrer expected to earn Rs 40 crore over the weekend

Talaash box office prediction: Aamir Khan starrer expected to earn Rs 40 crore over the weekend

Mr Perfectionist returns to the big screen in the lead role after three long years. Will this comeback be made special by housefull boards across the country? Here’s what the trade buzz says…
If our feathered friends and Talaash-loyalists are to be believed, the movie is gearing up for a bumper opening at the box office with “people thronging to the multiplexes to book the tickets in advance”. And why not! After all Aamir Khan did pull out all stops as far as marketing of Talaash is concerned. Remember the tie-up with Windows 8, those promotional episodes on C.I.D. and the buzz about Khan being interrogated by the cast of Star Plus’ Diya Aur Baati Hum?
But has it generated the desired buzz? “Talaash may not have generated extraordinary heat. But that may work in the favour of the film as it is a suspense drama. The intrigue value of the film has grown over the days because of the not-in-your-face promotional strategies which would do the suspense film good,” trade analyst Komal Nahta says. A peek into the booking window revealed that the tickets for the evening shows of certain multiplexes in Navi Mumbai are indeed sold out.
But what kind of buzz is the Aamir Khan-Rani Mukerji-Kareena Kapoor starrer creating in the trade arena? “The buzz is good and the weekend should earn approximately Rs 40 crores,” says trade analyst Amod Mehra.
And maybe that’s the reason why birdies chirp that the makers of Talaash were under tremendous pressure to open the ticket windows for the advance bookings on Sunday. And while bookings usually open on Monday for single screens and on Wednesday for multiplexes, advance bookings Talaashopened in all theatres (except the ones in Chennai) on Monday, four days prior to the movie’s release.
So has opening the advance booking sooner resulted in an increase in sale of tickets? Not really. The morning and afternoon shows show only 30-40 ‘booked’ seats in almost all theatres across Mumbai till now. And hardly any theatres are housefull. “Normally bookings open on Wednesday. And nowadays there are so many shows that to register a housefull in advance is a rarity,” Mehra said while explaining the reason behind those empty seats.
So looks like we’ll have to wait and watch if the promotional strategies employed for Talaash have indeed benefited the movie or not, right? Till then, you tell us readers: Do you think Talaash will cross the Rs 100 crore mark at the box office?

Is Aamir Khan impressed with Priyanka Chopra?

Is Aamir Khan impressed with Priyanka Chopra?
After Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan, the Doom 3 actor too seems to have loved PeeCee’s first single, In my city
Salman Khan tweeted some time ago saying that Priyanka Chopra‘s first single In My City was fabulous. “Omg! Jst heard priyanka chopra’s english track 3 times bak to bak, called in my city. Its fab, outstanding! SALAAM miss chopra.”

Shahrukh Khan too made a statement that he thought PeeCee had the potential to become the first crossover star from India. “Priyanka has the capacity and talent to become the first crossover star from India, our first creative export. She has a super team backing her and she is truly an international brand and will make India very proud,” he said.

Now it seems that B-town’s third Khan, Aamir – who is shooting in Chicago for Dhoom 3 currently – is also mighty impressed with Priyanka. A source from the sets of Dhoom 3 said, “Aamir Khan saw the song playing regularly during the National Football League playoffs. He was surprised at the magnitude of the launch.

He called the song ‘awesome’.” Aamir was also overheard telling those present on the sets that the song sounded international.Looks like Priyanka has floored the three Khans with her song and we are sure she is quite flattered with all the praise. None of the heroines have been vocal about PeeCee’s achievement though…we wonder why?

Barfi! Has Excellent Weekend

Barfi! Has Excellent Weekend

Barfi had an excellent weekend of around 34 crore nett as per early estimates. The film opened very well at multiplexes on Friday and the multiplexes which opened lower jumped huge either on Saturday and Sunday. By Sunday the film was doing well all over apart a from a few single screen dominated areas.

The film was released on around 1300 screens on 700 theatres and these collections are phenomenal for such a release. The occupancies were huge at multiplexes with houses running at capacity or near capacity. Other big openers are being released on 2500 screens nowadays with likes of Ek Tha Tiger even going close to 3500 screens.

The trending on the weekend suggests it will hold up very well on Monday as multiplexes will see very strong collections. The weekend has emerged the biggest for a Ranbir Kapoor starrer edging out the multi-starrer Raajneeti which collected in the 33 crore nett range.

Raaz 3 Second Weekend Business

Raaz 3 Second Weekend Business

Raaz 3 collected 8.25 crore nett in its second weekend taking its ten day business to 60 crore nett. The film was hit at multiplexes due to the response to Barfi! but single screens did well. the film is doing very well especially in UP and Bihar. The drop is around 75% from the first weekend.

The second weekend business from some circuits is as follows with first weekend figures are in brackets.

Delhi/UP - 200 (735)

East Punjab 84 (308)

CI - 31 (143)

   Rajasthan - 47 (194)

Barfi! Has Strong Start At Multiplexes

Barfi! Has Strong Start At Multiplexes

Barfi had a strong start at multiplexes all over. The film opened to 80% collections in Delhi city, Kolkata was fantastic with 90% and even Jaipur collections were 70%.  Smaller centres like Meerut and Moga also managed excellent collections in the morning shows.

The single screens will open lower but the releases is very limited with just 300 odd single screens with most of the screen space in multiplexes.

The biggest opening for a solo Ranbir Kapoor starrer till date is just under 10 crore nett of Ranbir Kapoor and the chances are there that Barfi! could match or even beat it on the strength of business at multiplexes.
