Indian Idol Junior: Sonakshi Sinha - Ranveer Singh

The Lootera duo surprised everyone by unleashing their hidden talents on sets of the singing reality show

Sonakshi Sinha and Ranveer Singh are on a roll to promote their latest flick Lootera. And after making their presence felt on various TV shows, the couple recently made an appearance on Indian Idol Junior. What’s more interesting than their presence was that both actors showcased their not-so-known sides on the show. First up was Ranveer, who wooed the audience and the contestants with his shayarana andaaz. After adhaansu performance by contestant Anmol, the actor in fabulously fun and poetic way said, “Anmol, Anmol, Anmol, jama diya tune rock n roll.” Yeah, so you may remember that RS is a good rapper, no?

On the other hand, Sona showed off her vocal skills by singing Tu ashiqui hain along with a contestant. And that’s not just it! She even grooved to the song Hawa hawai in great Sridevi ishtyle. Later, Ranveer also took to the stage and sang Humma humma with full vigour, leaving the audience asking for more.

Table No.21 Has Low Opening Weekend

Table No.21 had a low opening weekend of around 5.50-5.75 crore nett. The film did not show the growth that suggests the film can work in the long run. There was improvement on Saturday but limited while Sunday was a bit better than Saturday.

Mumbai circuit saw the best business as it recorded around 2 crore nett business. The only plus for the film is that it collected much more than its competitor releases on Friday like Dekha Jo Pehli Baar, Dehradun Diary, Rajdhani Express and Meri Shadi Karo which all collected in lakhs.

The new year is off to a bad start with the first five releases of the year not making any impact at the box office.

Dabangg 2 Has Excellent Opening

Dabangg 2 Has Excellent Opening
Dabangg 2 had an excellent opening and will have a strong first day collection. The occupancies were not that high at multiplexes for the day due to the huge number of shows as business got shared amongst the shows. The single screens were extraordinary with collections near record levels. The film should easily set a new record for weekend.

Khiladi 786 had a decent second week of around 16.50 crore taking its two week total to 61.50 crore nett. The film held up pretty well compared to many films this year but as low opening the film has remained well below expectations. AVERAGE

Talaash has grossed 89.50 crore nett in three weeks. SEMI HIT

Dabangg 2 Second Day Business

Dabangg 2 Second Day Business
Dabangg 2 dropped on Saturday as it collected in the 16 crore nett range as per early estimates. The single screen drop was expected as collections were extremely strong on day one but surprisingly multiplexes failed to show growth on Saturday. Some multiplexes showed similar business to Friday while some very down slightly but very few were up.

The two day business of the film is around 35 crore nett which is huge as it is has done it without holidays but the next few days will tell that the drop that come on Friday was due to excessive screenings and cold weather or therew as more to it. The North was hit again in the evening by cold weather on Saturday.

Dabangg 2 First Day Territorial Breakdown

Dabangg 2 First Day Territorial Breakdown
Dabangg 2 collected 19.25 crore nett on day one. It is the highest non holiday opening beating last year's Christmas release Don 2. The first day territorial breakdown is as follows

East Punjab - 1.59 crore

East Punjab All Time Openings: Dabangg 2 Third
Dabangg 2 had the third highest opening day in East Punjab after Ek Tha Tiger and Bodyguard in East Punjab. The top first day collections in East Punjab till date are as follows.

1. Ek Tha Tiger - 2.76 crore
2. Bodyguard – 1.87 crore
3. Dabangg 2 - 1.59 crore
4. Dabangg – 1.39 crore
5. Agneepath – 1.38 crore
6. Don 2 – 1.24 crore
7. Tees Maar Khan – 1.20 crore
8. Yamla Pagla Deewana – 1.18 crore
9. Ready – 1.14 crore
10. Cocktail - 1.12 crore

Dabangg 2 First Day Business

Dabangg 2 First Day Business
Dabangg 2 has collected 19.50 crore nett approx on day one as per early estimates. It is the highest non holiday opening day beating the 14.75 crore nett of Don 2 released in the same period last year but it has also released on 600-700 more screens than that film.

As has been seen in the last two years it is really tough to collect really big at multiplexes without a national holiday and the trend continued with Dabangg 2. There is just not enough of a multiplex audience on a working day to pack out 25 or 30 shows daily at a multiplex. Some shows go house full but odd timing shows have very low occupancies.

The first day is still fantastic and there should be growth on Saturday and Sunday as huge number of shows multiplexes give the film potential to get much higher collections as long as the public takes to it.

DABANGG 2 new stills: Salman Khan gets intimate with Sonakshi Sinha

DABANGG 2 new stills: Salman Khan gets intimate with Sonakshi Sinha

Chulbul Pandey seems to be in a great mood – dancing and making love, in this fresh batch of pictures

The first Dabangg showed us a Chulbul Pandey who was angry at the world and at people in general. But in this new batch of stills from Dabangg 2, we see Chulbul display a range of emotions. The anger is there for sure, but there’s also a sweet and romantic side to him. There’s a pic that even shows a passionate Chulbul making love to Rajjo (Sonakshi Sinha), and thus consummating their marriage; something we missed in the first movie. Besides, he is also seen riding a new Suzuki Intruder, a limited edition bike that he had actually purchased for himself.

Chulbul is also seen putting his dancing skills to test. And for critics who were saying that Pandey jeeis a lazy dancer, this new avatar of his will silence them, as Chulbul is seen matching steps with Kareena Kapoor who is a complete treat to watch in her desi-glam avatar.

All in all, the stills give us a great peep into the random craziness one can expect from the second installment of the film. What better way to get to know Chulbul Pandey!

Ranveer Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela

Ranveer Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela
The actor will be seen in a hardcore muscular avatar in Ram LeelaAnd he recently revealed what’s the secret behind his deliciously lean frame

Ranveer Singh, who is accused of being a Casanova time and again, has had absolutely no time for love, lust or anything of that sort of late. The actor is extremely busy trying to make his body look like steel, for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela, and he’s doing so with great grit and determination, we hear. And if the ‘made in heaven torso’ distracts you, look at his face, and you might mistake him for a junkie or a ship-wrecked sailor who has had a tough time surviving on the sea for months. He looks like a perfect combo of a Greek God body and Tom Hanks’ scruffy face from Cast Away.

But as we go raving about his toned upper bod, he spills the beans on how he has achieved this kinda awesomeness. It seems that the actor who was a huge fan of ‘functional training’ at one point in time, has now converted himself into a ‘drastic transformation programme’ lover. We hear many Bollywood celebs, including Hrithik Roshan (whose trainer is an inventor of this programme), indulge in this fitness routine for a leaner bod.

Ranveer emphasizes how being lean is the new cool thing, and being beefy so passé. But the actor also stresses on the importance of being mentally strong. Case in point is that despite his rigorous shooting schedule for Ram Leela, he takes out time for his DPT…err…DTP routine, whatever that is. We think after a while, Mr Singh will let his corrugated abs do the talking. Good for us, we don’t have to see his face covered with a bushy moustache and an unkempt beard anymore!

Yash Raj Films And Shekhar Kapur To Make PAANI

Yash Raj Films And Shekhar Kapur To Make PAANI

Shekhar Kapur and Yash Raj Films have joined hands to make Shekhar Kapur's ambitious project, PAANI.

Talking about this association, Shekhar Kapur said, "I have been preparing for this film for a long time, but always wanted an Indian partner that has the same passion for the film as I do and in Adi I have finally found that. It’s a huge production that demands futuristic sets and large action pieces. With Yash Raj Films, I have found a perfect home for PAANI".

The film is based in a future world where wars over water have broken out. Water is now owned by International Corporations who use thirst as a weapon of control. In one such future city, a young love story breaks all the rules and in the ensuing war, water flows back to its people. The film will have a strong Indian and Western star cast, headed by a young leading actor from India and a young leading actress from the west.

The film, Produced by Aditya Chopra and Directed by Shekhar Kapur, will be shot in India and overseas. Music is by A. R. RahmanPAANI goes on floor mid-2013.

Single Screens And Mass Belts Low For Talaash

Single Screens And Mass Belts Low For Talaash
Talaash could not open well at single screens and multiplexes in mass dominated circuits and there was not much improvement in the shows after. The multiplexes are in urban cities are good but eventually there is a limit to how far these cinema's can take a film. The single screen opening is around 40%.

The first day will come out with a decent total but not the sort of number expected from a wide release Aamir Khan film after three years. The average business in many circuits will tell on the first day business despite big contribution's by metro multiplexes.

The business in the big circuits (Mumbai and Delhi/UP) is not optimum as if Mumbai city has good numbers, Gujarat has low figures. If Delhi city is good, UP is recording low numbers.
