Salman Khan Number 1-10 Today
Salman Khan Number 1-10 Today
The last few week's have proved that Salman Khan is a star just competing
with himself as releases of the other big stars have disappointed in terms of
box office collections. Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Talaash can be claimed to be big
money makers but that is only because the main component (male star) of the
budget has a share in profits and when the share is given the profits are not
so great. The fact is that the domestic theatrical box office is not what it
should have been.
The 100 crore nett mark which is
redundant as a benchmark today has proved a stiff task for Shahrukh Khan, Ajay
Devgn and Aamir Khan over the last few weeks while for Salman Khan starrers the
question is not will it do 100 but in how many days.
Shahrukh Khan just about squeezed a 100 crore with Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Ajay
Devgn fell short with Son Of Sardaar, Aamir Khan looks to be going the same way
as Ajay Devgn. It can be said the the genres of the Shahrukh Khan and Aamir
Khan starrers are not very viable for big numbers but the fact these stars come
after some time making their films become event films and that counteracts
the genre factor to some degree. Also they had 2500 screen releases so with
such wide releases, the makers themselves signal that they are expecting huge
numbers. The not so great release of Son Of Sardaar can be an excuse if one has
to be given for that film not achieving optimum figures.
This week will see another big star
Akshay Kumar have a release with Khiladi 786. Akshay has seen the two
universally best word of mouth films of the year with Rowdy Rathore and
Housefull 2 and looking at the advance, Khiladi 786 will have to be
appreciated as much or more than Rowdy Rathore and Housefull 2 to put up a big
number.
If Khildai 786 does not put up a big
number then the possible scenario for the last five months of 2012 would be
that the two Salman Khan starrers (Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2) have done in a few
days what the Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar starrers
have done in their lifetime run.

SON OF SARDAAR box office report: Ajay Devgn’s entertainer touches the Rs 100 crore mark
SON OF SARDAAR box office report: Ajay Devgn’s
entertainer touches the Rs 100 crore mark
SOS has finally made it to the
coveted Rs 100 crore club. While Ajay’s flick took 16 days to get there, SRK’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan made it in just 11 days
In the meanwhile, the Shahrukh Khan-Katrina Kaif-Anushka
Sharma starrer Jab Tak Hai Jaan made at a budget of Rs Rs 50 crores
surpassed the milestone figure in just 11 days since its release, but it also
had more screens as compared to SOS. The over-whelming response to SOS at
single screen centres, pushed theatre owners and distributors to give 238
additional screens to the movie in its second week, which certainly helped it
to cross the Rs 100 crore mark. The film may not be able to earn more moolahonce Talaash hits the screens tomorrow.
But now that both JTHJ and SOS have hit the bull’s eye, let’s wait
and watch if Talaash and Dabangg 2 too can create new box office
records.

Can Ajay Devgn replace Salman Khan as the new Mr 100 crores?
Can Ajay Devgn replace Salman Khan as the new Mr 100 crores?
With a solid track record in the last two years, can
Devgn become B-town’s most bankable star?
It’s money over mind and matter. And when it comes to Bollywood, money is
measured in terms of the Rs 100 crores club. Which in turn means, which actor can command the star
power to have audiences clamouring to the theatres. Well, if one were to go by
figures, then the star ruling the roost currently is Salman Khan. Starting from
the 2010, Salman has
given four Rs 100 cores-plus films in the form of Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard and Ek Tha Tiger.
Close on the heels is Ajay Devgn with
three films already crossing the Rs 100 crores mark – Golmaal 3, Singham and Bol Bachchan.
And now Son of Sardaar,
where Ajay had to fight tooth and nail with Jab Tak Hai Jaan to even get enough
number of screens, is going to soon cross the coveted figure. Now that equals
his score with Salman Khan! So, does Sallu need to feel threatened with Ajay’s
newfound clout as an actor who can churn out big money at the box office?
Wethinks, no. With Dabangg 2,
Salman can once again hope to tilt the scales in his favour, regaining the
title of Mr 100 crores. In the meanwhile, Ajay might have to wait till March
2013 when Himmatwalareleases,
to prove his command over the tricky ticket sales.
What would be interesting though is
to see, when Ajay and Salman release their films on the same date, who will
have a command over the one thing that matters the most – money!

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Again On EID 2013
Once Upon A
Time In Mumbai Again On EID 2013
Sources indicate that
Milan Luthria’s Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai Again, that has an ensemble
starcast headed by Akshay Kumar, is scheduled to release on Eid 2013, 08th
August 2013.
Obviously, this piece
of information has created a buzz because from 2009 Eid has been reserved for
Salman Khan, whose films Wanted, Dabangg, Bodyguard and Ek Tha Tiger released
on this occasion and went on to write box office history.
As of now, Salman hasn’t
booked Eid for any of his releases and instead the Akshay-Imran Khan starrer
OUATIM Again has blocked this date in 2013.
When asked whether there was any truth to the news of OUATIM
Again coming on Eid, director Milan Luthria said, “If I am not wrong, this will
be Akshay, Imran and my first Eid release. My principal cast play Muslim
characters and I also have Pritam’s mellifluous Sufi score.”

Jab Tak Hai Jaan SUPER HIT Son Of Sardaar HIT
Jab Tak Hai Jaan
SUPER HIT Son Of Sardaar HIT
Life
Of Pi opened had a good 50% opening at multiplexes across the big cities. the
film will record healthy figures for a day one.
Jab Tak Hai
Jaan has grossed 91 crore after ten days and has done well at multiplexes. As
with films like Ra.One and Don 2 the final business will not be as much as SRK
starrers should be doing in the domestic market especially as holiday releases
but the difference here is that its not a big budget venture. Although it was
one of the event films of 2012 the costs involved are more on the lines of a
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Student Of The Year rather than a Don 2 or Ek Tha
Tiger. SUPER HIT
Son Of Sardaar has done well all over apart from West Bengal
and South grossing 75 crore nett in ten days. Despite the restricted release
for a such a film and competition from a Shahrukh Khan starrer the film has
grossed well in most circuits. The poor release at single screens has cost the
film as the film has done better at single screens and if the film had released
at the better single screens, it would have put up higher numbers. HIT

Kajol’s silent war with Yash Raj Films
The real reason behind
the 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'-'Son of Sardaar' fight
The real reason behind
the 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan'-'Son of Sardaar' fight
The truth can be told! It was not
a Shah Rukh-Ajay contest. It was apparently not even a case of Yash Raj being a
box-office bully. But the REAL reason for the ‘Jab Tak
Hai Jaan'-‘Son of Sardaar' war has its roots elsewhere!
Word has it that it all began with ‘Bol
Bachchan', when Ajay
requested Yash Raj Films for a portion of the song ‘Kajra Re' to use in the
film. Buzz is that YRF asked for five lakhs to lend this to him! And this upset
his wife Kajol considering she has worked in their films, and done cameos for
YRF free of charge.
Now
Apparently, Ajay agreed to pay the amount for
the 90-second sequence of the song. But even as he was about to do so, YRF
reportedly hiked the amount to 25lakhs! By now, Kajol was apparently furious
and Ajay too was upset. A friend of Ajay says, "She was really upset but
Ajay consoled her saying it was all part of the business."
Things only got worse when Kajol (heroine of
one of YRF's biggest hits - ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge') was not invited to the premiere
of ‘Jab Tak
Hai Jaan'! And yet the
event was tom-tommed as sporting all the YRF heroines! This definitely upset
Ajay who felt that Kajol had nothing to do with the box-office war of ‘JTHJ' and ‘SOS'. He firmly states, "Yes, Kajol was not seen at the premiere as she
was not invited.”

second Friday's as both films grossed in the 2.50-2.75 crore nett range. Jab
Tak Hai Jaan lost screens in week two but Friday has an increase in multiplex
ticket prices and it has the bulk of collections coming from multiplexes now.
Son Of Sardaar had a similar number
of screens in week two and continued to score in mass areas. The approx figures

Yash Chopra’s last film has finally made it to the Rs 100-crore club
Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Yash Chopra’s last directorial
venture, continues to mint money. The romantic saga has earned Rs 101.26 crore
at the domestic box office in 11 days since its release. The movie, featuring Shahrukh Khan, Anushka Sharma
and Katrina Kaif, released on 2,500 screens on the auspicious occasion of
Diwali, November 13.
Made at a budget of Rs 50 crore, the movie has surpassed
the Rs 100-crore mark in the Indian market, even though it had crossed the
milestone figure in terms of worldwide collections within six days of hitting
the screens.
Despite mixed reviews from all
quarters, it had grossed over Rs 120 crore from all over the world in six days,
and at the Indian box office, the movie had managed to get Rs 80.73 crore. The
figures only seem to be on a rise. The buzz for the film was immense, given the
fact that it is Chopra’s last directorial, a project he took up eight years
after helming Veer-Zaara. It has also
brought back Shahrukh in his
classic romantic avatar, which his female fans love him for.

Prakash Jha’s Chakravyuh
Arjun and Abhay in Prakash Jha’s Chakravyuh
Set to release on October 24th is Prakash Jha’s next
hard hitting film Chakravyuh starring Arjun Rampal, Abhay Deol,
Manoj Bajpayee, Esha Gupta, Anjali Patil and Om Puri. According to star Arjun
Rampal,“His (Prakash Jha) films are not boring documentaries, yet they talk
about relevant issues. They are the perfect combination of realism and
commercialism. I didn’t know what the Naxal movement was about. We live in
cities and that’s why we feel this is the whole world. We are ignorant about
the Naxals. Prakash told me that 90 per cent of India lives in villages.
There’s nothing happening to promote their growth. They are an easy target (for
the Naxals), and they get influenced easily.”
