Chitrangda Singh and Arjun Rampal’s INKAAR (Poster)

Chitrangda Singh and Arjun Rampal’s INKAAR

The bold and the beautiful pair look stunning and sexy in Sudhir Mishra’s new film
The first look for Sudhir Mishra’s much awaited Arjun Rampal and Chitrangda Singh starrer Inkaar that deals with sexual harassment at workplace is out, and the two lead actors are looking sizzling on the posters.
Set in the corporate world, the film follows Chitrangda’s journey over a period of eight years, as she transforms herself from being a carefree hippie to becoming a corporate bigwig. The film shows the sexual harassment she faces at the hands of her superior – Arjun Rampal.
What’s interesting though is that the film will show two sides to the sexual harassment issue. So much so, that the lovemaking scene in the film too will be shown from both the male and the female characters’ points of view. This is ‘coz director Sudhir Mishra wants the world to know that it’s not only women, but men too who face sexual harassment. It seems that the film will be heavy on risqué content, and even the trailers will have bold and suggestive lines to entice the youth into watching the film. And we thought that Sudhir Mishra always depended on intellect to sell the film. Wink, wink!

Yash Raj Films And Shekhar Kapur To Make PAANI

Yash Raj Films And Shekhar Kapur To Make PAANI

Shekhar Kapur and Yash Raj Films have joined hands to make Shekhar Kapur's ambitious project, PAANI.

Talking about this association, Shekhar Kapur said, "I have been preparing for this film for a long time, but always wanted an Indian partner that has the same passion for the film as I do and in Adi I have finally found that. It’s a huge production that demands futuristic sets and large action pieces. With Yash Raj Films, I have found a perfect home for PAANI".

The film is based in a future world where wars over water have broken out. Water is now owned by International Corporations who use thirst as a weapon of control. In one such future city, a young love story breaks all the rules and in the ensuing war, water flows back to its people. The film will have a strong Indian and Western star cast, headed by a young leading actor from India and a young leading actress from the west.

The film, Produced by Aditya Chopra and Directed by Shekhar Kapur, will be shot in India and overseas. Music is by A. R. RahmanPAANI goes on floor mid-2013.

Single Screens And Mass Belts Low For Talaash

Single Screens And Mass Belts Low For Talaash
Talaash could not open well at single screens and multiplexes in mass dominated circuits and there was not much improvement in the shows after. The multiplexes are in urban cities are good but eventually there is a limit to how far these cinema's can take a film. The single screen opening is around 40%.

The first day will come out with a decent total but not the sort of number expected from a wide release Aamir Khan film after three years. The average business in many circuits will tell on the first day business despite big contribution's by metro multiplexes.

The business in the big circuits (Mumbai and Delhi/UP) is not optimum as if Mumbai city has good numbers, Gujarat has low figures. If Delhi city is good, UP is recording low numbers.

Kareena Kapoor to reveal Dabangg 2 song Fevicol se on Bigg Boss 6

Kareena Kapoor to reveal Dabangg 2 song Fevicol se on Bigg Boss 6

The Heroine actor will perform on her most talked about item number on the weekend episode of Bigg Boss 6

It seems that the controversial reality show has become a place for film promotions. After launching the first look of Dabangg 2 on the reality show Bigg Boss 6, host Salman Khan will now get good friend Kareena Kapoor to dance on the item song – Fevicol se for the Saturday special episode. We hope Sallu too will join her on stage.
The makers of the movie were planning to release the song this week. But according to our feathered friend, Salman Khan loved the tremendous response to Dabangg 2 promo on his reality show. So he came up with the idea of revealing his movie’s most anticipated item number on the same show too.

Choreographed by Farah Khan, the song has been in news for quite some time now. So all you Sallu and Bebo fans out there, please keep your calendar free for this Saturday and watch Bebo shake a leg to this heavy-duty item number.

Aamir Khan: Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor are very pretty!

Aamir Khan: Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor are very pretty!

So he had to work hard not to be distracted by his co-stars, he says. Aamir Khan speaks about his latest film, Talaash and what makes him do what he does so well

How did the idea of Talaash come up? What made you accept the role?
Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti came to narrate the script to me, and I just loved it. After a long time in Hindi cinema, we will see a suspense drama – and such a riveting one, with a deep emotional core. I like that it is an unusual and also intriguing combo.
On working with director Reema Kagti…
Reema is a director who is very au fait with her subject. We hadn’t interacted a lot during Lagaan, but were totally immersed with Talaash. Her confidence in what she requires, her in depth preparation of material and how to imbue it with the actor is wonderful. No compromises were made and I was very comfortable working with her. She knew deep layers of my character, which was quite amazing.
This is the third time you’ve worked with a female director (not to mention producing female directors like Anusha Rizvi) – is there a difference in approach, perhaps, from working with men in the industry?
Yes, as a, actor I have worked with Deepa (Mehta), Kiran (Rao) and now Reema. All are extremely wonderful and capable directors. They know exactly what they are looking for in a shot. I would say that actually their approach is a purely individualistic trait and nothing to do with gender. The process of cinema and storytelling – for too long it’s been the male perspective on life and relationships. I’m happy to support women directors, with their fresh mindsets in the world of cinema. Also, there is more opportunity now for new-age filmmakers and writers, which is not dependent on country, region or gender.
Your role in Talaash
I play Inspector Shekhawat, who is investigating a case. At the core of my character there is loss and coping with loss. It’s an emotional story. I like to create the characters I play in behaviour – each day I have to believe what is happening to the character is happening to me. You have to watch it to glean the rest.
You have two talented leading ladies in TalaashRani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor…
It’s been a while since Ghulam and Mangal Pandey: The Rising, so it was nice to reunite with Rani on screen. And 3 Idiots also seems a long time ago – that was working with Kareena. Both are very pretty, so I had to work at concentrating on the job, without getting distracted (laughs). I like the energy they bring and how they worked with me as part of the larger team. They are both very nice human beings.
Ram Sampath has delivered again for you, creating evocative music, like in Delhi Belly….
The music of Talaash, is Ram and Reema’s creation. I am in love with the film’s songs. They just grow on you. Ram and I have worked on Delhi Belly and Satyamev Jayate. In Ram we see a star who is born, who creates absolutely outstanding music. Ram is a person who has been around a long time, and worked on tons of commercials, and has experience as a composer. His time had come, to make a big mark in Hindi films and cinema and he has matured as a composer. He also loves to experiment. I really feel that his contribution is immense.
How did you prepare for your role as a cop and keep the ‘look’ for so long?
Reema had done extensive research for the role. I did go to Khar police station in Mumbai a couple of times in the night to see the night vigilance team at work. As I work on one film at a time, keeping the look is never an issue.
Being part producer, also lead actor – was this easy to juggle?
In this case, Farhan (Akhtar) and Ritesh (Sidhwani) were more hands-on as producers, so it was easy for me. I didn’t want to produce ever in my life, as I’ve seen what my father went through. I was happy to act – production was the last thing on my mind – but when you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans. I ironically ended up producing films that no one else would touch. They’ve been successful, but I don’t know why. I do give all the work I choose to do, my all.
Coming together with Excel after the iconic Dil Chahta Hai
Yes, it’s been almost a decade since we worked together. It’s a wonderful team to work with and they are extremely creative. They work in a collaborative style, so they listen to each other’s opinions and decide what needs to be done.
Like Dhobi Ghat, you chose to work in real locations – what were the challenges, with your super-stardom?
Reema was very clear from beginning that she would shoot at real locations. She wanted to capture Mumbai in its real form. It has been difficult for the entire team, however – the light, the ambience and locations can never be replaced by shooting in an indoor studio. It is totally worth the effort.
The climax was shot at Pinewood Studios in London, underwater…
We earlier thought of shooting this in India. It was extremely smooth shooting there and a nice experience, but also a tad petrifying when swimming underwater. The UK is always enjoyable.
You embraced your spiritual side by taking your Mother to Mecca…
I promised my mother that I would take her to Hajj; it was a promise made almost a year ago. It’s been an extremely special experience and an unforgettable one. I have really cherished spending time with my mum.
Satyamev Jayate, like your film Taare Zameen Par, has helped change policy within the government and has changed so many lives – what compelled you to be the social activist?
Uday Shankar of Star TV had approached me for a game show and that’s when I told him of this idea, saying that if I were to come on TV, then it would be in something like this and asked if it would interest him. He just loved the idea. It was an overwhelming response that we got from the people. It’s about raising awareness. Season 2 is on the way and we are working on it, on the research side. OnceDhoom:3 and Rajkumar Hirani’s Peekay are done, we will begin shooting.
Dhoom:3 brings you back to Yash Raj Films after a long hiatus, and you have always played a very good villain…
I will say that it is a pleasure for me to work with Yash Raj Films once again. The Dhoom theme tune gives a swing to my step and the script, by Victor (Vijay Krishna Acharya) really won me over.
Your ‘brand’ of cinema has changed a lot over the years and you are bringing ‘unusual’ indie films, like Peepli:LiveDhobi Ghat and Delhi Belly to Indian cinema – how important do you see this being for the perception of Indian films by the world and even within India?
As an actor, I have always enjoyed working on films that push the envelope on the commercial format. Whether it’s LagaanDil Chahta Hai or Taare Zameen Par, that is how I choose my films. Peepli:Live,Dhobi Ghat and Delhi Belly are films I have loved, and hence produced. Ultimately, for me, the script should excite me, whether as an actor or producer. I have also shown that art-house movies, which would collect so little in the past, are now able to make some serious money.
What’s next, for Aamir Khan?
I start work on Raj Kumar Hirani’s Peekay and there is SMJ season 2. And the rest is on the horizon and we’ll talk about it later.
A message for the fans?
Do communicate with me via my social media pages and let me know how you feel about my work.

Talaash Has Good Opening At Multiplexes

Talaash Has Good Opening At Multiplexes
Talaash opened well at multiplexes in its first shows in this morning. The opening ranged from excellent to decent depending on city and location. There were multiplexes that opened at 90% while others were at 50%.

On average it is a 70% opening at multiplexes. The film has a very heavy release at multiplexes with a huge number of shows at most properties across the country. The single screen release is more muted as the distributors did not give the film to single screen exhibitors unless they committed to a two week run.

The single screen opening will be lower as multiplexes in tier two cities have opened lower. The evenings at metro multiplexes tend to be strong for this type of a film so day one should could come out with a good total on the strength of multiplex business.

Salman Khan confirms plans to make Dabangg 3

Salman Khan confirms plans to make Dabangg 3

In an interview, Salman revealed that Dabangg 3 is in the offing, and also told us a bit of what the story would be all about

Salman Khan is a man who doesn’t mince any words. As a result, one gets to know all sorts of quirky things that are cooking in his head, and sometimes juicy details escape his lips. In a recent interview, when asked whether there will be a Dabangg 3, Salman not only answered in the affirmative but also let us know what the story would be. The third installment of the movie will be a prequel and will delve on how Chulbul Pandey became who he is, and how his life came to be the way it is.

Well, it’s a great piece of news for all Dabangg and Sallu fans. But we wonder whether the prequel will be made if Dabangg 2 fails to impress? Also, will Arbaaz Khan don the director’s hat again for Dabangg 3? We’ll have to wait a little longer to find out. And is it wise for Salman to reveal the plot of the third film in the series, even before the sequel Dabangg 2 releases? Probably not!  But again, when it comes to Salman, a commitment is a commitment, and we surely are waiting for Sallu to fulfill his third Dabangg promise.

SON OF SARDAAR box office report: Ajay Devgn’s entertainer touches the Rs 100 crore mark

SON OF SARDAAR box office report: Ajay Devgn’s entertainer touches the Rs 100 crore mark
SOS has finally made it to the coveted Rs 100 crore club. While Ajay’s flick took 16 days to get there, SRK’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan made it in just 11 days
After all the sho-sha surrounding Son Of Sardaar, producer-actor Ajay Devgn can now heave a sigh of relief. Devgn, who vigorously fought the distribution battle with Yash Raj Films, finally has reasons to smile. The romantic comedy touched the Rs 100 crore mark on the auspicious day of Gurunanak Jayanti, 16 days after its release. Naturally, the actor proudly announced the news on Twitter and thanked all his fans: ‘100 crores only in India! What a day for Son Of Sardaar to cross 100 Crores on guru nanakji’s birthday! I am blessed! Thank u everyone’.

In the meanwhile, the Shahrukh Khan-Katrina Kaif-Anushka Sharma starrer Jab Tak Hai Jaan made at a budget of Rs Rs 50 crores surpassed the milestone figure in just 11 days since its release, but it also had more screens as compared to SOS. The over-whelming response to SOS at single screen centres, pushed theatre owners and distributors to give 238 additional screens to the movie in its second week, which certainly helped it to cross the Rs 100 crore mark. The film may not be able to earn more moolahonce Talaash hits the screens tomorrow.

But now that both JTHJ and SOS have hit the bull’s eye, let’s wait and watch if Talaash and Dabangg 2 too can create new box office records.

Balaji Motion Pictures splurging Rs 150 crore on six releases for 2013

Balaji Motion Pictures splurging Rs 150 crore on six releases for 2013

Ekta Kapoor’s films Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai 2, Ragini MMS 2,Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi, Shootout at Wadala, Ek Thi Daayan, Lootera will release in 2013

Not content with being queen of the idiot box, Ekta Kapoor has decided to take on Bollywood in a big way. Her Balaji Motion Pictures’ strategy had hitherto been to keep budgets under control and thus gain return on investments superior to big budget films. Not anymore it would seem. With millions of rupees being so much chump change in Kapoor’s cavernous rear pockets, Balaji is splashing out Rupees 150 crore for their six 2013 releases.

Tanuj Garg, CEO, Balaji Motion Pictures, who is very close to Kapoor, said, “We have put together a strong line-up with a lot of variety. The significant ramp-up in our slate demonstrates the seriousness and passion with which we are growing the movie business. We believe that an equal focus on co-productions and acquired properties is not only a financially prudent approach for us but should also accelerate our growth momentum. We’re pleased to be the only entity with market dominance in television and films alike.”
Balaji’s first two releases of 2013 will take on the mighty Indian Premier League (IPL), the only competition where an Indian team will always win. April 18 sees the release of supernatural thriller Ek Thi Daayan, starring Emraan Hashmi, Huma Qureshi, Kalki Koechlin and Konkona Sen Sharma, co-produced by Vishal Bhardwaj and directed by newcomer Kannan Iyer. On May 1, it’s the turn of well-known plagiarist Sanjay Gupta’s , the prequel to Shootout at Lokhandwala, starring Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Kangna Ranaut, Tusshar, Manoj Bajpayee Sonu Sood and Ronit Roy.

Releasing on June 7 is yet another Delhi-set comedy Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi, a title bound to baffle non-NCR types and open to obscenely creative interpretation. A co-production with Bejoy Nambiar, it marks the directorial debut of adman Aman Sachdeva and launches Siddharth Gupta and former Miss India Simran Kaur. Enough is enough. Can Bollywood now please leave Delhi alone and victimise another city now, say, Faizabad? Vikramaditya Motwane’s love story Lootera, starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha, releases July 5 and will test whether the director has it in him to make a commercial film. It’s a co-production with Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl of Phantom Films.
Milan Luthria’s Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai 2 (earlier called Once Upon a Time Again), starring Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and Sonali Bendre is Balaji’s standard-bearer for the year and it releases August 8. And finally, Bhushan Patel’s Ragini MMS 2, starring pornstar-turned-Sati Savitri Sunny Leone opens on October 11, hoping to attract the sleaze demographic to theatres.

Salman Khan’s new haircut

Salman Khan’s new haircut

The hunk was seen sporting a cool crew cut recently. And we wonder if this new look is for his next film
Salman Khan seemed in a jovial mood as he headed out with good friend Sonakshi Sinha for watching Life of Pi. The actor was seen interacting with fans and happily posing for the paparazzi. Is the new hairdo the reason behind Sallu’s super cool behavior? The crew cut surely lends a very rugged feel to his personality. But the one quandary that’s gnawing our brains is whether this look is for one of his upcoming films or Sallu bhai was simply in a mood for a smart makeover.

Khan will reportedly start shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kick very soon, and we wonder if this style statement is for his new and exciting role. He will be seen playing a gutsy guy in the film who wants a certain kick out of everything he takes up. In that case, a stylish crew cut seems like a perfect choice for his adventurous onscreen personality.

Can Ajay Devgn replace Salman Khan as the new Mr 100 crores?

Can Ajay Devgn replace Salman Khan as the new Mr 100 crores?

With a solid track record in the last two years, can Devgn become B-town’s most bankable star?

It’s money over mind and matter. And when it comes to Bollywood, money is measured in terms of the Rs 100 crores club. Which in turn means, which actor can command the star power to have audiences clamouring to the theatres. Well, if one were to go by figures, then the star ruling the roost currently is Salman Khan. Starting from the 2010, Salman has given four Rs 100 cores-plus films in the form of Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard and Ek Tha Tiger.

Close on the heels is Ajay Devgn with three films already crossing the Rs 100 crores mark – Golmaal 3, Singham and Bol Bachchan. And now Son of Sardaar, where Ajay had to fight tooth and nail with Jab Tak Hai Jaan to even get enough number of screens, is going to soon cross the coveted figure. Now that equals his score with Salman Khan! So, does Sallu need to feel threatened with Ajay’s newfound clout as an actor who can churn out big money at the box office?

Wethinks, no. With Dabangg 2, Salman can once again hope to tilt the scales in his favour, regaining the title of Mr 100 crores. In the meanwhile, Ajay might have to wait till March 2013 when Himmatwalareleases, to prove his command over the tricky ticket sales.

What would be interesting though is to see, when Ajay and Salman release their films on the same date, who will have a command over the one thing that matters the most – money!

Bhatts pay writer Kapil Chopra Rs 20 lakh for stealing Jannat 2 script

Bhatts pay writer Kapil Chopra Rs 20 lakh for stealing Jannat 2 script

Kapil Chopra is now compensated with credits, and gets twice the amount he had asked for

Script writer Kapil Chopra is a relieved man. The young writer had dragged the Bhatts to court a few months ago for allegedly stealing his script and making Jannat 2 based on his concept. Chopra has finally got his due as a court found that the story of Bhatt camp’s production Jannat 2 starring Emraan Hashmi, Randeep Hooda and Esha Gupta was similar to a script Kapil had written a year ago.
The writer had demanded that the makers should pay him Rs 10 lakh and give him due credit as the film’s writer. The Bhatts had defended their stand, but now after the court’s hearing, the makers have coughed up double the amount, Rs 20 lakh, and also have attributed him as the writer of the film. The film was released on May 4, so Kapil could not be given credit in the theatrical screenings. But now that the verdict is out, Kapil Chopra was duly credited when the film was screened on television this Sunday.

Anil Kapoor considering daughter Sonam for Indian 24

Anil Kapoor considering daughter Sonam for Indian 24

Sonam Kapoor may just make a debut on television for her daddy’s new show

Anil Kapoor, who is set to bring the Indian adaption of award-winning American TV series 24 to the small screen, says he is willing to cast daughter Sonam Kapoor if there is a role for her.

“If there is a character which suits Sonam or Sonam thinks will suit her, then why not? We will definitely pitch, these days we have to talk to Sonam’s managers,”  says the 52-year-old actor on Tuesday at the launch of 24.
24 is an American television series that started in 2001 and ran till 2010, with a total of 192 episodes. Anil featured in the eighth season of the show as Omar Hassan, president of the fictional Islamic Republic of Kamistan. Meanwhile, when asked about his personal favourite television show, he said, “I liked Buniyaad, which was directed by Ramesh Sippyji. I loved that.”

Shahrukh Khan: Priyanka Chopra is close to my heart

Shahrukh Khan: Priyanka Chopra is close to my heart

The Jab Tak Hai Jaan superstar speaks out about how his ‘close’ friend Priyanka was treated unfairly. Is Shahrukh hinting at KJo’s remarks about her?

Looks like Shahrukh Khan wants to put his bitter past behind him. Last year has been traumatic for the King Khan as his name was in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Be it his slap-gate episode with frenemy Shirish Kunder or his infamous brawl with a security personnel at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium, Shahrukh has remained one of the most notrious and controversial figure of 2012. But the one news that hurt SRK’s wifey, Gauri Khan and the coterie of her friends (including Sussanne Roshan, Twinkle Khanna and Karan Johar) the most was the Baadshah Khan’s alleged affair with Priyanka Chopra.

But now, when SRK looks back at the whole issue, the 47-year-old actor feels that PeeCee was not treated fairly by ‘some’ people. Shahrukh also maintains that his Don 2 co-star will always remain close to his heart. “(I) Feel extremely sorry, for she (Priyanka) wasn’t shown the respect I show her, or other women. Priyanka Chopra is one of the closest friends that I have, she is very close to my heart, and always will be,” said Shahrukh during a recent TV interview.

Clearly, SRK is hurt too and he’s on PeeCee’s side. Does it mean that KJo’s stinging remark and Gauri Khan’s unfriendly attitude towards Priyanka has not gone down well with Shahrukh? Is the superstar Khan referring to a tweet by Karan Johar, in which KJo had taken on Priyanka following an article that quoted an anonymous friend of Priyanka’s saying that if women are insecure about their relationships with their husbands, they should sort it out with them. “Using their hired PR machinery and hiding behind so called “friends” to get news into tabloids is nothing but spineless and lame!!!” Karan had tweeted after the article appeared.
A little birdie chirped to us that KJo and Piggy Chops resolved the issue at the latter’s 40th birthday party, but they have been maintaining safe distance from each other. Now SRK’s generous quote (Priyanka will always be close to my heart) obviously indicates that the superstar still has a soft spot for his dear friend and has been hurt by the way people around him treated the whole issue.
Interestingly, one of PeeCee’s fans sent a copy of the recording of this interview to Priyanka who is currently shooting for Zanjeer in Hyderabad, and we hear she was quite touched by it. Will SRK’s candid confessions bring the two friends closer and shut up their detractors? Guess so!
