Is Aamir Khan impressed with Priyanka Chopra?

Is Aamir Khan impressed with Priyanka Chopra?
After Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan, the Doom 3 actor too seems to have loved PeeCee’s first single, In my city
Salman Khan tweeted some time ago saying that Priyanka Chopra‘s first single In My City was fabulous. “Omg! Jst heard priyanka chopra’s english track 3 times bak to bak, called in my city. Its fab, outstanding! SALAAM miss chopra.”

Shahrukh Khan too made a statement that he thought PeeCee had the potential to become the first crossover star from India. “Priyanka has the capacity and talent to become the first crossover star from India, our first creative export. She has a super team backing her and she is truly an international brand and will make India very proud,” he said.

Now it seems that B-town’s third Khan, Aamir – who is shooting in Chicago for Dhoom 3 currently – is also mighty impressed with Priyanka. A source from the sets of Dhoom 3 said, “Aamir Khan saw the song playing regularly during the National Football League playoffs. He was surprised at the magnitude of the launch.

He called the song ‘awesome’.” Aamir was also overheard telling those present on the sets that the song sounded international.Looks like Priyanka has floored the three Khans with her song and we are sure she is quite flattered with all the praise. None of the heroines have been vocal about PeeCee’s achievement though…we wonder why?

Barfi! selected for Oscars

Barfi! selected for Oscars

The Anurag Basu film will be sent as India’s official entry to the Academy Awards 2013

The Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz starrer Barfi! that released last week has been named India’s official entry to next year’s Oscars. It’s a big victory for this Anurag Kashyap film as it beat 19 other films – including Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Paan Singh Tomar, Soojit Sircar’s Vicky Donor and Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani – to get selected for the Academy Awards 2013.

Barfi! revolves around a happy-go-lucky deaf and mute character played by Ranbir, who falls in love with an autistic girl played by Priyanka Chopra. Ileana makes her Bollywood debut with this movie.

The film has music by Pritam Chakraborty. The heartwarming romantic comedy won over the critics and the audience, and has already earned over Rs 60 crore at the box office. Let’s wait and watch if the film that has been loved in India manages to impress the Oscar jury to get into the final five!

Heroine Opens Well

Heroine Opens Well

Heroine opened well at the box office with collections around 55-60% at multiplexes.

The film will come out with a pretty good first day number and by far the highest for a film driven by a heroine. The occupancies are lower than last week's Barfi! which took a strong start at multiplexes but the film has a much wider release than Barfi! of around 2000 screens.

The first day number of Heroine will be much bigger than any other film where the main face value was the female lead. The wide release also gives potential to collect but a lot depends on how well the single screens actually collect.

Barfi! Ranbir Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra starrer earns over Rs 60 crore!

Anurag Basu’s heartwarming film didn’t merely win hearts, but also raked in big moolah

Director Anurag Basu’s Barfi! starring Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz saw a good opening at the box office, as it made Rs 34. 6 crores in its opening weekend. In fact, the Saturday and Sunday collections were higher than on the opening day, mainly because of good word of mouth publicity and great reviews.

The film continued to be strong during the week and raked in an additional Rs 20 crore by Wednesday. The film has also made Rs 13 crores in the form of overseas collections. On Wednesday it saw a big jump at the BO due to the Ganesh Chaturthi holiday. So this UTV Motion Pictures’ production, which was made at a budget of around Rs 30 crore, has already raked in over Rs 60 crores in just six days. Ranbir’s last release Rockstar, on the other hand, made Rs 50 crores in its first week, while Barfi! did it in just five days.

Thursday saw a slight dip in earnings (Rs 5.65 crores), perhaps because of the Bharat bandh, but the fact that Delhi and Mumbai were largely unaffected helped the film. Trade analysts are hoping that the movie picks up from where it left off on Friday (today).

Trade experts estimate that Barfi! will continue to be strong at the BO over the next week too, especially because of the negative buzz around this Friday’s release – Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine.

Why are Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor going for a court wedding?

Why are Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor going for a court wedding?

Yes, no saat pheras or nikaah or church wedding for the Agent Vinodcouple. As we had predicted the beautiful couple will solemnise their relationship in the marriage registrar’s office

Now that Kareena Kapoor’s Heroine has released, we can shift focus to the glam diva’s long-impending marriage to her handsome beau Saif Ali Khan. Right, Saifeena? Anyway, after news that the Pataudis have sent out Dawat – e – Walima to family and friends, remember we told you that thesecretive  shaadi  may in all likelihood be a court wedding.

Our sources had told us that the couple is keen on a court marriage rather than a dhoom dhaamwedding. Our feathered friend has now confirmed our speculation. He told us that on September 12 the new Nawab of Pataudi actor filed an application for marriage at the Bandra marriage registrar’s office. That means he can get married to to-be begum Bebo anytime post 30 days of the application date. And since the reception invites is scheduled for October 18 at the royal family home in Bhopal, the Saifeena wedding will take place between October 11 and 17. But what’s most important is that Saif-Kareena have opted for a very secular way to make their five-year-long relationship official.

So all those Bebo fans who are eager to know if their Heroine will change her religious background for the nikaah, like her to-be mother-in-law Sharmila Tagore, nope! In fact, if you remember Kareena, Karisma Kapoor and mom Babita Kapoor are regularly seen at the Mount Mary Church in Bandra on special occasions. And ever since Saif started dating Bebo he too is seen with the family at the Christian place of worship.
Clearly Saifeena’s love knows no religious boundaries. Welikes! But we don’t like this secretive attitude towards the shaadi!

Will Aishwarya Rai Bachchan say ‘yes’ to a film with Brad Pitt?

Will Aishwarya Rai Bachchan say ‘yes’ to a film with Brad Pitt?

The last time the beauty queen was offered a role opposite the Hollywood heartthrob in Troy, she turned it down!

During the promotions of international mob-drama Killing Them Softly, the film’s lead star actor Brad Pitt waxed eloquent about his Bollywood know-how. And apart from showering praises on the fast-changing Hindi film industry and expressing his interest in doing a Bollywood masala flick, Brad revealed that he’d like to work with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

This is what he said: “Given a chance, I would like to work with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan because she’s a versatile actor. She has worked brilliantly in films like The Mistress of Spices, The Last Legion, The Pink Panther 2 and Provoked to name a few.”
Thankfully, unlike other Hollywood folks, the American hottie wasn’t just name-dropping to impress the media. He did know who and what he was talking about. Brad believes, “She is one of the most popular actresses of Bollywood, who has achieved huge acclaim in the West for her style, beauty and acting skills. I think we missed an opportunity to be cast together for the movie Troy.”

It looks like one of Brad’s longstanding dreams is to pair up with the Bollywood beauty. But will it happen any time soon? We doubt it, ‘coz right now clearly Aishwarya is concentrating on motherhood and not movies.

Barfi! Has Excellent Weekend

Barfi! Has Excellent Weekend

Barfi had an excellent weekend of around 34 crore nett as per early estimates. The film opened very well at multiplexes on Friday and the multiplexes which opened lower jumped huge either on Saturday and Sunday. By Sunday the film was doing well all over apart a from a few single screen dominated areas.

The film was released on around 1300 screens on 700 theatres and these collections are phenomenal for such a release. The occupancies were huge at multiplexes with houses running at capacity or near capacity. Other big openers are being released on 2500 screens nowadays with likes of Ek Tha Tiger even going close to 3500 screens.

The trending on the weekend suggests it will hold up very well on Monday as multiplexes will see very strong collections. The weekend has emerged the biggest for a Ranbir Kapoor starrer edging out the multi-starrer Raajneeti which collected in the 33 crore nett range.

Saif and Kareena to get engaged on the 16th of october?

Saif and Kareena to get engaged on the 16th of october?

Finally the date has been announced. All the hype and guessing surrounding Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s wedding ceremonies may soon come to an end.

If reports are to can be trusted , Saif’s mother and actress Sharmila Tagore has started with preparations for the wedding and apparently, a lot of invites have already been sent to people for the wedding which according to reports will take place on the 16th of october, as planned.

Last month, as we reported that the wedding would take place in two stages, with an actual ceremony in Delhi followed by a lavish celebrity affair in Mumbai.

Sharmila Tagore had said that the big fat royal wedding would be attended by close family members.

And reports also suggest that Saif’s younger sister Saba Ali Khan, who is a jewellery designer, is in-charge of the wedding preparations along with Sharmila.

"I’m a refined actor" –Bipasha Basu

"I’m a refined actor"  –Bipasha Basu

Fresh from the success of Raaz 3, Bipasha Basu speaks about her ups and downs in Bollywood

From a model to a popular Bollywood star, Bipasha Basu’s journey hasn’t been one without her share of ups and downs. But she has taken every experience in her stride and says she has emerged as an evolved person.
“Today, I am a refined actor, lived a little more life, have seen a lot, handle situations, not just a relationship, career-wise I have fallen down, come up again. I have had my run of relationship crises, staying away from my parents for a long time, loans to pay at times I didn’t know how to pay,” Bipasha said to a radio channel host.
The 33-year-old made her Bollywood debut in 2001 with Ajnabee. She was dating her Raaz co-starDino Morea that time, but parted ways with him in 2002. Then she became romantically involved with her Jism co-actor John Abraham, whom she dated for around eight years.
Professionally, her career picked up with films like No Entry, Dhoom, Corporate and Bachna Ae Haseeno. Her latest release Raaz 3 received a good opening, and Bipasha is happy the way life has shaped up for her.
“From 1997 to 2012, I’ve lived a wholesome life, moved from one room to one BHK (bedroom, hall, kitchen) to two BHK sharing with a friend. Then bought a car, but didn’t know how to drive and also couldn’t afford a driver. Finally, my friends ended up driving, so I realised there was no point of buying a car. I had a very broken life, yes sometimes broken down, sometimes very strong, so I feel I am a very evolved human being right now,” she said.
For now, Bipasha awaits the launch of her second fitness DVD, and her debut international project Singularity, will hit the screens early next year.

"why he picked me for this role, it was so unlike me" – Ranveer Singh

“I asked Vikram why he picked me for this role, it was so unlike me.”

– Ranveer Singh

Mention Ranveer Singh’s personality and the first words that come to mind are bubbly and energetic. Its no suprise then that Ranveer himself was shocked when he was chosen to play a reserved character in his next film Lootera. Vikramaditya Motwane’s period romance will be his third release but will be a first for the new actor in terms of leaving his hyper character in Band Baaja Baaraat and Ladies vs Ricky Bahl behind. For Ranveer however, this task appears to be one of his most challenging in his career.
During a recent interview Ranveer describe his difficulty saying, ”I am full of high energy, very talkative and extrovert in real life but my character is very reserved in Lootera. He is intense, almost brooding. I was just not able to crack this role during the workshop and felt frustrated. I asked Vikram why he picked me for this role, it was so unlike me.”
Describing how he ended up in the film, Ranveer says, “I loved Udaan and when when I met him [Motwane] at Filmfare award function I told him that I would love to work with him and immediately without blinking for a second he said, ‘I have something for you’. Next day we met over lunch and he handed me the complete bound script of Lootera. I cried when I read the story. It is one of the best scripts I ever read and it has shaped up beautifully on the screen.”
To prepare for his role Ranveer admitted to turning away from the tv, his phone and computer to help get into his character given that the film is to be shot in 1950s Bengal.  Despite his initial doubts, Ranveer says he is surprised with himself but does not credit that to his preparation but the guidance and confidence his director has in him. “Vikram used to tell me that I have a side like this. He used to tell me, ‘Trust the power of camera’ and it really helped me a lot during the filming. This role was something that could have gone easily wrong for me.”
It seems that after successful performances in his first two films the Bombay boy will have a variety of roles to play after recently bagging Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ram Leela with Deepika Padukone and Yashraj’s next film Gunday along side fellow Yashraj heart throb Arjun Kapoor.
For Ranveer however, all his energy is focused toward Lootera which is set to release in March next year. The  O Henry story ‘The Last Leaf’ adaptation will see Ranveer share the screen with fellow fresh talent Sonakshi Sinha for the first time.
